Slipknot, Discografia

Slipknot (también llamada SlipKnot) es una banda de nu metal formada en 1995 en Des Moines, Iowa. Desde el año 1999, mantiene su formación después de diversos cambios en la misma. Sus integrantes son Chris Fehn, Corey Taylor, Craig Jones, James Root, Joey Jordison, Mick Thompson, Paul Gray, Shawn Crahan y Sid Wilson; todos ellos utilizan máscaras.

Slipknot utiliza dos tipos de guitarra (principal y rítmica), bajo, dos percusionistas, además de una única batería, e instrumentos electrónicos como samplers o mesas de mezclas. El sonido de la banda ha sido descrito como “una máquina trilladora devorando un grupo de tambores militares”. El vocalista Corey Taylor también incorpora diversos estilos vocales, como por ejemplo la voz gutural, el canto melódico y el rapeo, mientras que las letras en general tienen un tono agresivo. Las influencias de la banda incluyen, entre otros géneros, el death metal, el thrash metal, el blues y el rap.

Los inicios de Slipknot se remontan al año 1992. La banda sufrió muchos cambios en su formación antes del lanzamiento de su existoso debut homónimo en 1999. Han publicado otros dos álbumes, Iowa y Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses. Se espera el lanzamiento de un cuarto álbum titulado All Hope Is Gone en el 2008.

In Flames, Discografia

Bueno, pues vamos con otra discografía, esta vez le toca a In Flames.

In Flames es una banda de Melodic Death Metal procedente de Gotenburgo, Suecia. Es considerada la primera banda de dicho estilo, junto con Dark Tranquility (en la que también estuvo Anders Friden) y At The Gates. Recientemente han ido cambiando su estilo a unas ramas más melódicas y comerciales, con tendencias de Nü-metal, aunque, personalmente el estilo que tiene esta banda es único. Está formada por el batería Daniel Svensson, el bajista Peter Iwers, los guitarristas Jesper Strömblad y Björn Gelotte y por el vocalista Anders Fridén.

Hasta la fecha tienen 9 discos de estudio, y dos en directo, uno de los cuales (Used And Abused: In Live We Trust) también salió en DVD, y lo podeís encontrar también en vagos.fm subido por jeimi.

Arch Enemy, Discografia

Fundada por el guitarrista Michael Amott (hoy también parte de Spiritual Beggars, ex Carcass y Carnage), quien reclutando a su hermano Christopher (guitarra), Johan Liiva (ex Furbowl) en voces/bajo y Daniel Erlandsson (ex-Eucharist) en batería, formarían una de las bandas más importantes del metal actual.

En 1996 sale a la luz su primer trabajo llamado Black Earth, un estilo pesado y rápido, donde destaca la técnica de los hermanos Amott en las cuerdas, principal sello que identifica a la banda. Gracias a este trabajo alcanzaron gran popularidad en Japón, aun no mucha en Europa.

En 1998, ingresa un nuevo bajista (Martin Bengtsson) dejando a Liiva solo en voces, y un nuevo baterista (Peter Wildoer), pero también fue el año del lanzamiento de su segundo trabajo Stigmata, más melódico que su antecesor y técnico. Su popularidad sigue creciendo en Japón y ya se abren camino en Europa. A finales del 98 vuelve Daniel Erlandsson a la batería y cambian a Martin por el conocido bajista Sharlee D’Angelo (Mercyful Fate, Witchery).

En 1999 entran a grabar su tercer disco Burning Bridges, el cual en 1999 los trajo por primera vez a América, específicamente a Chile (Abril 1999) junto a Hammerfall. Japón, sin embargo, no se quedó atrás y lanzaron en mayo su nuevo trabajo, el que alcanzó gran demanda durante las primeras semanas llegando a estar posicionados en el lugar número 21 de las listas de ventas nacionales en Japón. Luego de esto, una gran presentación en el festival Dynamo de Holanda y un extenso tour por Europa junto a In Flames, Dark Tranquillity y Children of Bodom dejaron bien puesta la bandera de la banda. A finales de 1999 Sharlee es reemplazado por Roger Nilsson y se embarcan a principios del 2000 en su primer tour norteamericano junto a Nevermore. En Japón ya son grandes estrellas del metal, por lo que lanzan Burning Japan, disco en vivo que recoge temas de sus tres discos de estudio. Ese año sería uno de grandes cambios, volvería D'Angelo al bajo, pero quizás el reclutamiento más inesperado sería el de la germana Angela Gossow.

Mike Amott quería un sonido más rápido y directo, una voz más demoníaca y claro lograr abrirse en el marcado occidental, y qué mejor siendo unas de las pocas bandas de death metal con una mujer en las voces. Así, con estos cambios de formación, entran a grabar su nueva placa Wages Of Sin, que vería la luz en abril del 2001.

A diferencia de años anteriores, la formación no sufre cambios, y lanzan en 2003 Anthems of Rebellion, con un sonido más directo y menos melódico, pero que les sirve para cumplir sus expectativas de conquista del público occidental. También lanzan el EP Dead Eyes See No Future, que incluía además de temas en vivo, donde se nota la excelente calidad vocal de Angela, versiones de Megadeth, Manowar y Carcass.

El 2005 lanzan Doomsday Machine. Público y crítica esperaba un disco más comercial, pero la banda entrega un excelente álbum, ultramelódico y con una Angela desbordante. El 2005 se retira Cristopher Amott, uno de los pilares de la banda, para buscar nuevos horizontes musicales, e ingresa el guitarrista Fredrik Akesson.

El 24 de septiembre de 2007 fue lanzado nuevo álbum de estudio, Rise Of The Tyrant, con el regreso del guitarrista Christopher Amott
